From site visit to signed quote
This is how a quote moves through Tradie Business, start to finish.
Step 1
Start where the work comes in
Press New quote, or start one from a lead in your Leads inbox, which fills in the customer and a title and shows what they asked for. Adding a new customer takes you straight back to the quote.
Step 2
Add lines in the units you price in
Add up to 50 lines, each with a quantity, a unit and a unit price. Pick a unit (hour, day, metre, lineal metre, m², m³, tonne, roll, sheet and more) or type your own. Totals are worked out for you, with 10% GST in Australia or 15% in New Zealand if you're registered.
Step 3
Ask for a deposit in writing
Add a deposit request, such as 30% before materials are ordered, and it's printed on the quote. It's text only: no payment is taken through the app.
Step 4
Email it before you start the ute
Once your email address is confirmed, send the quote from the app. The customer gets a summary and a private link, and replies come to your inbox. You can also print it or save it as a PDF.
Step 5
The customer accepts and signs on their phone
From the link they accept with their name and a signature drawn with a finger, or decline with a reason. You get an email either way. Change a sent quote and it becomes a new revision that needs accepting again.
Step 6
Turn the yes into a job, then an invoice
One tap turns the quote into a job, with the customer, site address and a budget from the quote lines, and takes you to its schedule. When the work's done, Create invoice copies the lines into a draft invoice.
What every quote gives you
- Quote status
- Mark quotes draft, sent, accepted or declined, so the quotes list shows which ones to chase.
- GST only when it applies
- Tick Registered for GST in Settings and quotes add GST at your country's rate. Not registered? No GST is added and nothing on the quote says GST.
- Revisions you can look back on
- Every edit after sending saves a numbered revision, like Q-1001 rev 2, so you can see exactly what the customer agreed to and when.
- A record of the signature
- Each answer keeps the time, the signature and a fingerprint of the exact revision the customer saw.
Good to know
- There's no saved price list or item catalogue, so each line is typed in on the quote.
- You can't attach drawings or photos to a quote. Photos go in the job's daily log.
- Deposits are requested in writing only. Online card payments are marked Coming soon.
Trades that quote by the metre, the m² and the hour
Units matter most to trades that price by measurement:
- Tilers
- Floor and wall tiling per m², with waterproofing as its own line.
- Painters
- Walls and ceilings by the m² or by the room, with prep on its own line.
- Fencers
- Panels by the lineal metre, posts each and removal of the old fence as a lot.
- Concreters
- The slab by the m³ or m², with the pump as a separate line.
- Landscapers
- Turf and paving by the m², soil by the cubic metre, plants each.
- Electricians
- Each safety switch, the board and the testing on separate lines.
What it costs
Solo is A$12 (NZ$13) a month ex GST for one person. Crew is A$22 (NZ$24) for up to five. See full pricing.
Questions about quoting software
How many lines can a quote have?
Up to 50. Each line has a description, a quantity, a unit such as m², lineal metre or hour, and a unit price, and the totals and any GST are worked out for you.
Can customers accept a quote online?
Yes. The emailed link lets them accept with their name and a signature drawn on their phone, or decline with a reason. You get an email and they get a copy.
What happens if I change a quote after it's been accepted?
It's saved as a new revision, like Q-1001 rev 2, and the old one is kept as a record. The customer's link shows the new version, and it needs accepting again.
Can I take a deposit when a quote is accepted?
You can add a deposit request, printed on the quote. The app doesn't take payments, so invoice the deposit and the customer pays it by bank transfer.
Does quoting work for New Zealand businesses?
Yes. Choose New Zealand when you sign up and your quotes are in NZ dollars, with 15% GST added if you're registered for GST.
